A few years ago autism hit the headlines in New Zealand in a very negative way when a young woman died.

New Zealanders were shocked at her death and ignorance about autism was in abundance.

A few people wanted to point the finger.

Thank you for inviting me to open your new Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre.

I am aware that the AT&R centre is the result of three years of hard work and commitment by many people.
