I want to kick this conference off with a commitment from this government to the tech sector in New Zealand.

Kia ora koutou, good evening everyone, and thank you to Creative HQ for the invitation to be here and help celebrate the launch of your accelerator programme.

I’m here today to engage and explore ideas about how we can work together towards a digitally connected, technology-enabled future for every Kiwi.

The series Winners and Losers is representative of something quite deep in us and so I’m going to list the titles up front:

Having been a journalist, cutting my teeth on the Nelson Mail and the Hauraki Herald, it is no surprise that I am a very strong supporter of the fourth estate as an essential pillar of democracy.

Good evening everyone. Thank you to Stuart Christie the Chair of the AI Forum, for his introduction and to members of the AI Forum – many of whom are in attendance tonight - for their invitation to formally launch the research report Artificial Intelligence: Shaping a Future New Zealand.

The last time I was in this room was probably about 2 and a half, maybe three years ago, and it was to hold a forum on public broadcasting.

It is my pleasure to be here at the Wellington launch of Auckland University’s Cyber Security Foundry, following the establishment of the Foundry in Auckland last November.

Good morning everyone, and thank you to the organisers -New Zealand AI and the AI Forum of New Zealand – for their invitation to come along today to give the opening address.

It’s a pleasure to be with you today and I want to thank the Advertising Standards Authority for gathering together this group of senior managers from across many sectors for this summit.
