Today is a special day for Buy Kiwi Made. Special, because this is the first public event of the Buy Kiwi Made programme. Special, because I am able to announce two further Buy Kiwi Made initiatives later in my speech, and special, because it coincides with the first anniversary of the death of Green Party co-leader and the champion of Buy Kiwi Made, Rod Donald.

The Government has allocated $11.5 million dollars over the next three years to fund the Buy Kiwi-Made campaign.

If we can get consumers, retailers, other businesses and government departments to also value our producers by buying more of their products then more people will be in work, our communities will be stronger, the economy will be stronger, less energy will be used transporting goods and imports will decrease.
