Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen, and thank you for inviting me to speak to you again this year. I am delighted to be here in Rotorua for this occasion.
This is the fifth time I’ve had the pleasure of opening this conference.

Tonight, Tourism New Zealand will present to you the latest incarnation of NewZealand.com and introduce you to the travel planner which will help our visitors plot a route around New Zealand.

As many of you will know, tourism is the world’s largest industry, and tourism in New Zealand has emerged as an international success story.

I am delighted to be here this morning to share in the celebrations of opening this fantastic new facility.

Good afternoon. I am delighted to be here today to officially open the new wing of this historic hotel. I always enjoy this part of my electorate - Whakapapa – it’s a place that represents so much of what New Zealand tourism is all about - nature, culture and heritage.

To all respected people gathered here for this celebration - Tena koutou katoa. Firstly, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our overseas guests. For some of you this might be your first visit to New Zealand, so I hope that you will have the time to enjoy the many good things the Taranaki Region and New Zealand has to offer.

The certification of Kaikoura is a practical step towards sustainability that shows the world we are serious about meeting environmental issues head-on.

I am delighted to be here tonight, to celebrate this watershed in tourism labour force planning.

It is a pleasure to recognise the hard work and achievements of those who represent the future of one of New Zealand’s premiere industries— tourism.
