Conservation Minister Sandra Lee has delivered the prestigious Sanderson Lecture to the 2002 annual general meeting, in Wellington, of the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand.

Alliance Deputy Leader Sandra Lee has paid tribute to retiring MPs and called for the marginalisation of small parties under MMP to be addressed in future.

"As Minister of Conservation, I am extremely proud of this government's record as managers and protectors of New Zealand's unique natural and historic heritage."

This is the third time that it has been my privilege as Minister of Conservation from New Zealand to present to the Commission a proposal to establish a South Pacific Whale Sanctuary to protect the great whales in their breeding grounds in our region.
