Peter Radich and Leigh Pearson have been reappointed to the Broadcasting Standards Authority (BSA) announced Broadcasting Minister Craig Foss today.

Mr Radich has been reappointed as BSA Chair and Ms Pearson as a BSA member.

Peter Radich is the senior partner in a Blenheim-based legal practice. He is currently a member of the NZ Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal and is a former Coroner. He was previously the chair of the NZ Law Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal.

Broadcasting Minister Craig Foss has today announced the appointment of Kim Wicksteed as a member of the Broadcasting Commission (NZ On Air).

Mr Wicksteed is currently the principal of Advice Ltd, a business and marketing consultancy. He was previously the chief executive of Saatchi and Saatchi New Zealand.

Kim Wicksteed’s current directorships include Learning Media, Equinox IT and Frizzell Wines. He is an accredited member of the Institute of Directors.

Broadcasting Minister Craig Foss today announced the appointment of Richard Long to the Board of Television New Zealand.

Mr Long has a career in journalism spanning more than thirty years.

He has been elected to various newspaper industry roles, including chair of the NZ Press Association editors’ liaison committee.

“Mr Long’s media career will enable him to contribute his lengthy practical experience to the work of the TVNZ Board,” says Mr Foss.

Responsibility for Radio New Zealand’s Sound Archives (Sound Archives Nga Taonga Korero) is being transferred to the New Zealand Film Archive, announced the Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister, Chris Finlayson and Broadcasting Minister, Craig Foss today.

A transfer agreement has been signed, and takes effect from 1 October 2012.

Broadcasting Minister Craig Foss today announced the appointment of Therese Walsh to the board of Television New Zealand.

Ms Walsh was the Chief Operating Officer for Rugby New Zealand 2011 Limited, the company established by the NZRU and the NZ Government to deliver the Rugby World Cup Tournament in 2011.

“Ms Walsh’s commercial experience will be a great asset to the Board,” says Mr Foss.

Ms Walsh has recently been appointed as Head of NZ, ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

Broadcasting Minister Craig Foss today announced the appointment of Wayne Walden as the Chair of Television New Zealand (TVNZ).

“Mr Walden has been a member of the TVNZ Board since last year. He brings solid industry experience to the role, having also spent four years as the Chair of Māori Television,” says Mr Foss.

Mr Walden sits on the boards of Ports of Auckland Ltd and Arcos Investments Ltd. He was previously a Managing Director of the Farmers Deka retail chain and served as Chair of Tranz Rail.

Broadcasting Minister Craig Foss has today announced the appointment of Miriam Dean QC as Chair of NZ On Air.

Miriam Dean is the President of the New Zealand Bar Association, Deputy Chair Auckland Council Investments, a director of Crown Fibre Holdings and a trustee of the Royal New Zealand Ballet. Previously she has held a number of significant appointments, including a period as Deputy Chair of the Commerce Commission.

Broadcasting Minister Craig Foss today announced details of the Government’s Going Digital Targeted Assistance Package.

“To keep watching TV, all New Zealanders need to go digital by getting Freeview, Sky or TelstraClear,” says Mr Foss. “Nearly 80 per cent of Kiwis have already done so and are enjoying more channels, better pictures and new services. People are going digital all the time and we expect nearly 90 per cent of New Zealanders will have gone digital by May 2013.
