Ladies and Gentlemen: thank you for being here tonight, because this really is something to celebrate.

This is my first speech as Associate Agriculture Minister, and I welcome this opportunity to talk about our dynamic primary production sector - truly the heart of our economy.

Ladies and Gentlemen: Last week, the Prime Minister unveiled an ambitious plan for the Government and our country in the Speech from the Throne.

Chairman, Mr Smith, ladies and gentlemen: I'm delighted to be here tonight. The growth of the dairy industry in my electorate and throughout New Zealand is something I take great pride in.
