New Zealanders were shocked at her death and ignorance about autism was in abundance.

It is a pleasure to be here today and to have the opportunity to take part in this important forum at a time when I have recently released the details of a prefunding superannuation scheme which is projected to reach roughly 50 percent of GDP at its peak.

We kept them because we felt an air of cynicism, which, if it continued, would destroy the essence of democracy.

Thank you for inviting me to speak to you today.

I think I have some understanding of how precious your time is.

Good morning. Thank you for the invitation to open your conference today. I am delighted to have this opportunity to speak to you today about the Government's vision for health, particularly in relation to sexual and reproductive health.

The topic you have invited me to speak on today – "Strategies for Growth in New Zealand" – has given me the opportunity to spell out the "economic vision" that the Labour Alliance Coalition Government has for our country.

Last week I announced the details of the government’s plan to partially pre-fund New Zealand Superannuation. The details will be familiar to this audience and I will not bore you with repetition.

Mr Speaker, I move that the Forests (West Coast Accord) Bill be now read a third time.

I've been asked to talk to you today about the government's inquiry into telecommunications. As you will be aware I commissioned that inquiry shortly after the election and it reported back to me earlier this month.

Thank you for the opportunity to formally launch this publication of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs on "East Timor - The Consequences".Firstly, some congratulations.

The Government has taken a clear leadership role in the matter of safeguarding the future of New Zealand superannuation. We have laid out clearly both our plans and the implications of those plans.
