It is not quite three years since I took up responsibility for this portfolio, however it has only been over recent months that there has been a significant focus on immigration. Unfortunately it has been driven by the anti-immigration sentiment whipped up by NZ First in its attempt to avoid political oblivion - it worked in 1996, so why not 2002?
