You have asked me to talk about compliance cost issues for enterprises and the role of information technology.

I am delighted to be here in India and have the opportunity to address the India and New Zealand Business Council.

Mr Chairman, members of FICCI, High Commissioner, distinguished guests.

Good morning, and thank you Mark for the introduction. I’m here this morning to share with you the first round of decisions that have been made regarding a core part of my work as Associate Minister of Commerce, namely the Insolvency Law Review.

I would like to take the opportunity today to look at the direction the reform of New Zealand’s capital markets regulation is heading in and to explain the context for the government’s activities in this area.

I am thrilled to be here at the West Coast E-Commerce Event. This event has particular significance, as today is the anniversary of the E-commerce Summit which we held in Auckland last year.
