Good morning ladies and gentlemen. It is an honour to be here today addressing you all - as the very first New Zealand Minister for Ethnic Affairs - at this the first AGM of the new millennium.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. It is my pleasure to address you all this evening, as we note and celebrate the launch of WTV - World Television Ltd.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. It is a pleasure to be here today to discuss the issue of the settlement of refugees in New Zealand.

It is a great honour to be appointed the first Minister Responsible for Ethnic Affairs. The appointment, made by our Prime Minister Helen Clark, reflects the Labour/Alliance Government's acknowledgment of the increasingly international nature of multiculturalism within the community.

Thank you for extending the opportunity to me to speak to you today. This is an historic event that I understand is the 1st Family Week celebration to be organised in Auckland.
