The Minister of Tourism Mark Burton has presented a cheque for $100,000 to help fund a new display at the New Zealand National Maritime Museum on Auckland's Waterfront.

The presentation was made at the Museum this afternoon. (At 3.30pm)

As the inhabitants of an island nation, New Zealanders have a particular affinity with the ocean surrounding us. Our ancestors, both Maori and European, travelled vast distances to get here.

Defence Minister Mark Burton has extended his sympathy and deepest condolences to the family of Squadron Leader Murray Neilson, who was killed today while piloting a A4-K Skyhawk in Australia.

It is with real pleasure that I accepted the invitation to participate in today's official opening of these extended premises.

It is my pleasure this evening, to give the opening address for the Brebner Print Art Deco Weekend.

First of all, I want to offer my congratulations to the Art Deco Trust for the organisation of this extraordinary event.
