It is an honour and a privilege to be among the members of the Indian community and all of the honoured guests, supporters and friends to celebrate Indian Cultural Night 2000.

Thank you for inviting me to speak this morning. It's a great pleasure to be able to address the NZAMI Annual Conference for the third time, but for the first time as Minister of Immigration.

I have been asked to address all of you here today on immigration matters concerning Fiji. I know many of you here today are deeply concerned about the crisis that is currently underway in Fiji, and I sympathise with you.
