TARANAKI-KING COUNTRY YOUTH MP SELECTED

The Prime Minister, the Rt Hon J B Bolger, today announced that Rajesh Nahna from Te Kuiti will represent the Taranaki-King Country electorate as Member of Parliament and Prime Minister of the 1997 Youth Parliament, which will meet on 26 and 27 May.

Rajesh is a seventh former and head boy at Te Kuiti High School and is actively involved in school and community life, sport, and cultural activities. He coaches the Girls 1st XI hockey team and plays in the school bands.

Mr Bolger said the high calibre of all the candidates nominated for this years Youth Parliament made selection very difficult.

All of the Curriculum Vitae were extremely well presented and all the participating schools should be very proud of their nominations."

The other four students nominated to represent the electorate were:

The inaugural Youth Parliament was held in 1995 and the then King Country Electorate was represented by Alison Weston from Waitara High School.
