SIS Director's Term Extended

The Director of the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service, Lt Gen Don McIver, has been reappointed for a further four months until 31 October 1999, Prime Minister Jenny Shipley announced today.

General McIver was originally appointed on 1 July 1991 and his term was due to expire on 30 June 1999.

"General McIver has a wealth of experience and skills which the Government is pleased to retain," Mrs Shipley said.
