Reappointment to the National War Memorial Advisory Council

Hon Mahara Okeroa, Associate Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage, today announced two reappointments to the National War Memorial Advisory Council.

The Chair of the Council, Colonel Andrew Renton-Green has been reappointed for a further two-year term to 31 July 2009.

Colonel Renton-Green has had a long career in the New Zealand Army and currently lectures at Victoria University’s School of Politics and International Relations, and its School of Religions. He also works for a private consultancy, lecturing on public policy formulation and government policy processes.

Mr Denny Morris has served two terms on the council and is being reappointed for a further one-year term

Minister Okeroa expressed his confidence in the reappointed Chair and member.

“I am delighted that Colonel Renton-Green has agreed to continue to serve on the National War Memorial Advisory Council. He has shepherded the Council through the major project of bring the Unknown Warrior home to the National War Memorial.

“I am confident that the Council will be as successful under his leadership in the planning and execution of the New Zealand Memorial Park in Buckle Street.

“I am also pleased to reappoint Denny Morris which will maintain the Council’s planning team for the Memorial Park.”

The National War Memorial Advisory Council advises the Ministers for Arts, Culture and Heritage on all matters relevant to the control and maintenance of the National War Memorial.
