New Minister Networks In Auckland

Interacting with older Pacific Islanders, mingling with IRD staff and meeting Customs management and members of the Italian America's Cup syndicate, Prada, will be on the agenda tomorrow for Minister outside Cabinet, Hon David Carter.

Mr Carter is in Auckland for a day to meet with representatives from his portfolio areas in Senior Citizens, Revenue and Border Control.

The itinerary is as follows: Media are welcome to contact Mr Carter during the day for comment in relation to these meetings.

8.20-9.50am, Meet with IRD staff at the South Auckland Service Centre, Housing NZ building, Amersham Way, Manukau. Mr Carter will tour the new call centre, take a look at the FIRST computer system and meet child support officers.

10.15-11am, Meet with Age Concern representatives, 540 Mt Eden Road, Mt Eden

11.20-12.25pm, Meet with representatives from the Pacific Older People's Network, 400 Richmond Road, Ponsonby. Various ethnic groups will make representations to the Minister and he will respond with a speech on issues relating to older people.

12.45-2.15pm, Meet Customs management to discuss the arrangements for facilitating access for America's Cup visitors and syndicate members, Auckland Customhouse, 50 Anzac Avenue. Meet with members of the Italian syndicate, Prada, at their base in Halsey Street. There is an opportunity for media to talk with the Minister at 2pm when he returns to the Customhouse.
