New District Court JudgeAttorney-General
The Acting Minister of Justice, Hon Paul East, today announced the appointment of Christchurch Barrister and Solicitor Anne Elisabeth McAloon as a District Court Judge.
Judge McAloon will be sworn in at Christchurch District Court on 25 July and will sit in Hamilton with a Family Court warrant from 25 August.
Judge McAloon graduated LLB from the University of New Zealand (Canterbury University College) in 1960 and was admitted to the Bar in 1961.
She is a Partner in a Christchurch legal firm where she specialises in family law.
Judge McAloon is a Member of the Canterbury District Law Society's Council, a member and convenor of its Family Law Committee and a member of its Community Law Centre Committee. She is also a member of the Canterbury District Legal Services Sub-Committee.
She is a member of the planning committee for the proposed family law section of the NZ Law Society.
Judge McAloon is a member of the Christchurch Family Courts Association and is a former volunteer supervising solicitor at the Christchurch Community Law Centre. She is a former volunteer at the Citizens' Advice Bureau Legal Advice Centre.
