New Board members Taranaki and Southland DHB

Pete Hodgson welcomed the appointment of Mrs Jan Dunlop and Ms Karen Goffe as members of the boards of Taranaki and Southland DHBs. Both new members’ terms of office commenced on 7 December 2006.

Mrs Dunlop has an established background in business and governance, together with extensive community and clinical experience in physiotherapy. She is director of Trinity Hospital and Rest Home Charitable Trust; a co-opted member of the Hauroa Taranaki Public Health Organisation (PHO) Advisory Committee and Taranaki DHB Advisory Committee; and a trustee of the John Hicks Charitable Trust. She was also an elected member on the Taranaki Hospital Board, President of the South Taranaki Parents Centre, Chair of the Tokaora School Board of Trustees and has been involved in supporting the disabled, through ‘Riding for Disabled’ and IHC.

Ms Goffe is a Health Promotion Adviser in Mental Health for Public Health South. She has an established background in public health, business and social work. Ms Goffe served on the DHB board’s first term, from 2002 to 2004. Ms Goffe has strong iwi and community networks and extensive experience with the Southland community, through her former roles and appointed offices with PACT Southland, the Southern Advocates Trust, the YMCA, the Justice of the Peace Association, the Bluff Community Board and the Bluff Health Committee.

Pete Hodgson said he looks forward to working with both Mrs Dunlop and Ms Goffe to improve health outcomes for the residents of Taranaki and Southland.
