New appointments to National War Museum Advisory Council

Prime Minister and Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Helen Clark today announced the appointment of Colonel Andrew Renton-Green as chair of the National War Memorial Advisory Council, and the appointment of Denny Morris as a new member of the council.

Helen Clark also announced the reappointment of Lt Col Eru Manuera and David Cox to the NWMAC for a further term of two years.

The function of the NWMAC, established by the National War Memorial Act 1992, is to advise the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage on all matters relevant to the control and maintenance of Wellington's National War Memorial.

"I congratulate the new appointees, Andrew Renton-Green and Denny Morris. Andrew Renton-Green has had a distinguished military and academic career, and Denny Green has served the Returned Services Association for many years. I also thank other board members for their continued service," Helen Clark said.

Biographical details on new appointments to the NWMAC

Andrew Renton-Green retired from the New Zealand Army in 1993, having attained the rank of Colonel. He joined the Ministry of Defence as divisional director of policy and planning in January 1995. Presently he lectures at the School of Politics and International Relations, and the School of Religions at Victoria University of Wellington, and is a senior associate of a firm of training consultants where he lectures on public policy formulation and government policy processes.

Denny of Morris, of Wellington, has been a long-serving member of the NZRSA's national executive committee and is a past chairman of the New Zealand Patriotic and Canteen Funds Board.
