Minister for Women outlines maternity leave plans

The Minister for Women Julie Anne Genter has today outlined her plans prior to and following the birth of her baby.

 The Minister will stop flying and remain based in Auckland from 15 July up until the baby’s birth, due on 6 August.

 She will continue to carry out her Ministerial duties from Auckland until she goes into labour.

 The Minister will take leave from her Ministerial duties from the time of going into labour for a period of up to three months (estimated to be 6 August to 6 November).

 Whilst on maternity leave, Minister Shaw will be the Acting Associate Minister of Transport and Acting Associate Minister of Health. Minister Sage will be Acting Minister for Women.

 All arrangements have been approved with the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the house.
