LUXTON ANNOUNCES ALTERATION OF COMMERCE COMMISSION APPPOINTMENTCommerce and Industry
The Minister of Commerce, the Hon John Luxton, announced the alteration of an appointment to the Commerce Commission today.
Ms Cathie Harrison's appointment as an associate member of the Commission has been altered to cover matters arising under the Commerce Act 1986 and the Fair Trading Act 1986, except for the powers in sections 41, 42 and 43 in relation to Part IV, Safety of Services. Ms Harrison's appointment will expire on 26 May 1998.
Ms Harrison was appointed as an associate member for Commerce Act matters in May 1996. She is a commercial and litigation lawyer with considerable experience and expertise in competition law. She was a partner at Chapman Tripp Sheffield Young from 1989 to 1995. In 1995 she left Chapman Tripp Sheffield Young to set up Harrisons, a specialist media and intellectual property law firm of which she is a Principal.
The alteration of Ms Harrison's appointment follows the retirement of Mr Joseph Auton from associate membership of the Commission this year.
