Kua whakatū anō a Robin Hapi ki Te Mātāwai

Hei koanga te ngākau a Te Hōnore Minita Nanaia Mahuta ki te whakatū anō i a Robin Hapi CNZM (Ngāti Kahungungu) ki te Poari o Te Mātāwai.

He rongonui ia i tōna ngākaunui ki te tikanga Māori me te whanaketanga hapori.  He tino mema ia o te Poari mō te rua tau kua pahure ake nei, ā, ka whakatūria anōtia mō te toru tau. 

“He whānui tōna wheako poari, āna mahi whakahaere matua hoki puta noa i ngā momo whakahaere rāngai kāwanatanga, tae atu ki te kāwanatanga matua.

Mā tana whakahokinga ki taua tūranga e whakarite te hononga mai i tētahi poari ki tētahi i a mātou e huri ki te whakatinana i te Maihi Māori me te Maihi Karauna,” te kī a Minita Mahuta.

I tēnei wā ko ia Te Amokapua (Heamana) o te Kaunihera o Te Wānanga o Raukawa, te Heamana Tuarua o Callaghan Innovation, te Mema o Te Pou Matakana (te Pūtahi Hokohoko o te Ika a Māui mō Whānau Ora) me te Heamana o te Poari Tohutohu o te Whanaketanga Ōhanga Māori.

“He mea tino nui tōna wheako kia mātua whakarite ka mahi tahi a Te Mātāwai me te Karauna i runga i te whakaaro kotahi ki ō māua wawata mō te reo Māori.

“He mea nui tēnei hāngaitanga i waenga i ngā Maihi kia eke panuku ai ngā taha e rua, ka noho hei arotahi nui mō te mahi i waenga i Te Mātāwai me te Karauna,” te kī a Nanaia Mahuta.

Robin Hapi reappointed to Te Mātāwai

Māori Development Minister Hon Nanaia Mahuta is  pleased to reappoint Mr Robin Hapi CNZM (Ngāti Kahungunu) to the Board of Te Mātāwai.

He is recognised for his commitment to tikanga Māori and community development.  He has been a valuable member of the Board for the past two years and is being reappointed for a three year term.

"Mr Hapi has extensive governance and senior management experience across a range of organisations, including central government.

“His reappointment will ensure continuity as we turn our attention to giving full effect to the Maihi Maori and Maihi Karauna," said Nanaia Mahuta.

Mr Hapi is currently Te Amokapua (Chairperson) of the Council of Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa, Deputy Chairperson of Callaghan Innovation, Member of Te Pou Matakana (the North Island Commissioning Agency for Whanau Ora), and Chairperson of the Maori Economic Development Advisory Board.

"His  experience will be critical to ensuring that Te Mātāwai and the Crown work in partnership towards our significant aspirations for to reo Māori.

“The alignment between the Maihi will be important to their success, and will be a focus for the work between Te Mātāwai and the Crown,” said Nanaia Mahuta.
