Health Delegations Agreed

The following delegations have been agreed in the health portfolio between the Minister of Health, Bill English, and the Associate Ministers of Health, Georgina Te Heuheu and Tuariki John Delamere.

Mr English

Mr English is responsible for all strategic and service policy issues for personal health, mental health, disability support services, and public health. He will also take responsibility for HFA performance management, and health information services. In relation to Hospital and Health Services, Mr English is responsible for ownership advice and relationship management, Hospital and Health Service sector support and information management. Both Mr English and Mr Delamere have responsibility for hospital appointments and governance.

Mrs Te Heuheu

Mrs Te Heuheu will be responsible for Maori Health, including strategic policy advice. She will also take an interest in any matter that impacts on Maori health across the health portfolio.

Mr Delamere

Mr Delamere will be responsible for health regulation and protection along with occupational regulation. Mr Delamere will also have responsibility for the following specific issues - PHARMAC; food and nutrition; communicable diseases, environmental health; transport and accommodation policy; national advisory and support services; health and disability consumer rights and advocacy services, including responsibility for the Health and Disability Commissioner and Ethics Committees; overseas debts; international health, Artificial Limbs Board; Year 2000 issues.
