GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH MEMORIAL FUND FOR DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES

The Government has set up a fund in memory of the life and work of Diana, Princess of Wales, the Prime Minister announced tonight.

Mr Bolger said donations to The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund would be distributed to charitable causes that the Princess of Wales was associated with during her life.

"The Princess of Wales contributed an enormous amount to a lot of people in New Zealand. Through the fund her work will live on," Mr Bolger said.

The fund is a partnership between the Government, TV One and the Bank of New Zealand.

The Fund will be administered by the Department of Internal Affairs. The Trustees of the Fund will be Dame Malvina Major (chair), Gillian Deane and Susan Devoy.

Donations can be made to any branch of the Bank of New Zealand or can be sent to:
