Chief Human Rights Commissioner Re-appointedJustice
The Minister of Justice, Hon D.A.M. Graham, today announced the re-appointment of Pamela Adrienne Jefferies as the Chief Human Rights Commissioner.
Mrs Jefferies was appointed Chief Commissioner in August 1994 for a term of three years. Her re-appointment is for two years from August 1997.
Mrs Jefferies, a chartered accountant, is a former legal firm Practice Manager and Finance Manager for the Aotea Centre.
She was a member of the Equal Opportunities Tribunal from 1978 to 1988 and she was a member of the Legal Services Board from 1993 to 1994.
She is a Director of the Bank of New Zealand.
