Appointment of Master of the High Court

Attorney-General Hon Margaret Wilson today announced the appointment of David Ian Gendall as a Master of the High Court.

Mr Gendall, who begins his five-year term on March 13, has been Professor and Dean of the School of Law at the University of Waikato since 2000.

He graduated with an LLB (Hons) from Victoria University of Wellington, and spent some of his early years with the Crown Solicitor’s firm in Wellington. He later practised in Hamilton and, before taking up his University post, was a partner with McCaw Lewis Chapman.

Outside of the law Mr Gendall has had along association with Marriage Guidance Waikato, as well as a number of other community organisations.
