Appointment of Deputy Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security
Prime MinisterPublic Defence Service Director and former Crown Counsel Madeleine Laracy, has been appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security for a three year term, Prime Minister Bill English announced today.
“The Deputy Inspector-General assists the Inspector-General in preparing and carrying out programmes for the general oversight and review of each intelligence and security agency,” said Mr English.
“She also assists with the Inspector-General’s reporting responsibilities to the Prime Minister, the Ministers responsible for the intelligence and security agencies and the Intelligence and Security Committee.”
Ms Laracy’s term commences on 11 September 2017. She replaces Ben Keith, who completed his term as Deputy Inspector-General last month.
The appointment was made following consultation with the multi-party Intelligence and Security Committee of Parliament.
