Budget 2017 has already provided for around $30 million to increase capacity in Bay of Plenty and today Associate Education Minister Tim Macindoe announced a further $3 million will be invested in schools in the region.
Minister Macindoe visited Taupo-nui-a-Tia College in Taupo today to make the announcement.
Associate Transport Minister Tim Macindoe has launched the first product of the Transport Outlook project, the Transport Outlook: Current State report. The Transport Outlook project aims to provide information, data, and analysis on New Zealand’s current and future transport system.
“Understanding transport demand and emerging trends in our transport system is crucial to ensure that we can provide the right information for the general public and transport planners, investors, and policy-makers,” Mr Macindoe says.
Around $21 million will be invested for more roll growth classrooms in Auckland as part of Budget 2017, say Education Minister Nikki Kaye and Associate Education Minister Tim Macindoe.
Ms Kaye made the announcement during a visit to Rowandale School in Manurewa this afternoon.
“This first round of investments in roll growth classrooms under Budget 2017 will provide a total of 41 new classrooms at eight schools across Auckland,” says Ms Kaye.

Work is now underway on dozens of individual road safety projects that aim to make busy South Island tourist routes safer for visiting drivers, Associate Transport Minister Tim Macindoe says.
The improvements are part of the Visiting Drivers Project’s $15 million road safety engineering programme announced in October 2016. A further $10 million has been budgeted through the project for co-investment with local government to support regional works and a visiting drivers education campaign.

“Wairarapa College is one of the oldest schools in the region, and includes buildings with recognised heritage status, such as the main block with its distinctive octagonal tower and arched entranceway,” says Ms Kaye.
“However, many of the school’s buildings are in poor condition and affected by issues such as water damage.

The Summit is being held from 31 May -2 June and will bring together members from approximately 57 countries to explore the trends shaping transport governance and to identify the most pressing challenges in the global transport sector.
School capacity across New Zealand will increase significantly as a result of $392.4 million of capital funding and $64.1 million of operating funding over four years, Education Minister Nikki Kaye and Associate Education Minister Tim Macindoe say.
“This will provide six new schools, two school expansions, the relocation of two special education schools, 11 new special education satellite units and around 305 new classrooms nationwide,” Ms Kaye says.
