Every day Tariana Turia, like most leading politicians, is pounded with questions from the media and other members of Parliament. And as of next week, members of the public will be given the same opportunity.

Turia - Open for Questions will be a fortnightly Q & A chat-like video-blog whereby the minister, and co-leader of the Maori Party, will address questions on topical issues that affect the everyday lives of tangata whenua and New Zealanders.

"There are questions that will still require a written reply but a video-blog is just another way for me to communicate with the public on a very up-close and personal level - body language, voice and all," Mrs Turia said.

"The questions don't need to be technical or academic. In fact I want to hear from everyone and anyone - it's the public voice I want to hear."

The maiden video-blog will address any questions. The video-blog will go online at noon every Tuesday fortnight, beginning May 12. The deadline for submitting questions will be by 5pm the Thursday prior, beginning May 7.
