Defence White Paper 2010

The National-led Government is committed to making sure that New Zealand has a strong and effective defence force.   That is why we have delivered on our pre-election promise and completed the first defence review in 13 years.

This White Paper presents the Government's plan for a modern Defence Force that will meet our security needs over the coming 25 years.  The paper sets out a plan to progressively enhance capability and to be able to replace core capabilities in a planned way over the next 20 years.

We want to reprioritise resources from the back office to the frontline.  Defence requires a skilled and disciplined workforce, and this paper introduces a new approach to managing the New Zealand Defence Force's workforce.
