New Appointment to Pacific Business Trust

Pacific Island Affairs Minister Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga today announced the appointment of Mr Uluomato’otua Aiono as a member of the Pacific Business Trust Board.

The Pacific Business Trust is a charitable trust, established in 1985 and incorporated under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957. It works to develop a strong economic base for Pacific peoples in New Zealand by providing opportunities through business ownership and participation.

“Mr Aiono is a successful businessman and entrepreneur who will make a significant contribution to the Trust. He offers years of experience nationally and internationally with specific accomplishments in enterprise resource planning,” says Mr Lotu-Iiga.

Mr Aiono is of Samoan ethnicity and is a business graduate from the University of Otago.  He is the founder of the high technology enterprise resource planning software company COGITA.  On 1 October 2010, he was appointed as the Chairman of the National Pacific Radio Trust.  Mr Aiono is a member of the AUT University Ethics Committee and a director of Habitat for Humanity for Greater Auckland.

His appointment is for a term of one year.
