Twinburn winter block

Distinctive Central Otago periglacial features on the crest of the St Bathans range, Twinburn winter block. Although these mountains did not support glaciers, prolonged snow lie and freeze-thaw action has carved cirque-like formations including steepened headwalls and alpine lakes as seen in the foreground.
